The Gaithersburg - Washington Grove Volunteer Fire Department is the
local fire-rescue department serving Gaithersburg, Washington Grove,
Derwood and Montgomery Village, Maryland. About
25 active volunteers and about 60 career firefighters provide fire and
rescue services from two fire stations. Our Station 8 is the busiest
firehouse in Montgomery County. Combined with our Station 28 the GWGVFD
responded to more than 14,000 calls in 2005.
The GWGVFD also runs a Junior Fire Brigade for
teenagers interested in the fire-rescue service, operates a fire
museum and assembly hall and provides
CPR training to the public. Speakers are
available to address community groups in our area and we have a
special outreach program for our
Hispanic community.
The GWGVFD takes pride in having served our community for more than
75 years.
